“I am homeless.” These are three words you hope you never have to say.
That’s how we started the draft of this letter in early September. Then came Hurricane Florence and now there are far more uttering these difficult words – neighbors who have lost everything and are looking to Good Shepherd to help them home again.
For 35 years, Good Shepherd has responded to the needs of the most fragile in our community. Today is no different. The hungry, the homeless, the Veteran, the disabled, the elderly – at Good Shepherd they all receive a hot, nutritious meal, a warm and safe bed and an opportunity to return to housing. This year, more than ever, we hope you will continue to put your faith in Good Shepherd to be the unwavering source of compassion and support for those who need it most.
We are so grateful to those who rallied around us during the aftermath of the hurricane and to those who remember us during the holiday season. In truth, we do the same important work every day of the year regardless of the weather or the number of folks who need us. As those numbers grow, we need YOUR help and financial support. You make it possible for Good Shepherd to serve our neighbors in their time of greatest need.
Please give generously this year and help us turn “I am homeless” into “I am home.”
Sincerely,
Kate Woodbury Katrina R. Knight, MSW
