Though the holiday season comes with a chill in the air, our hearts often remain warm with the nature of the season. No matter if we celebrate Christmas, Chanukah (Hanukkah), Kwanzaa, or simply celebrate our families and good fortunes, this time of year seems to make more of us stop and think about others. We’d like to take this moment to celebrate the good will that is a year round commitment for many in the Cape Fear community–for individuals, community groups, and nonprofits alike–as well as highlight a special milestone for one.
Since it began as a soup kitchen in 1983, the Good Shepherd Center has grown to offer those in need of shelter, breakfast and lunch every weekday, as well as dinner every evening for those staying at their night shelter. Celebrating her tenth year with Good Shepherd, Executive Director Katrina Knight shares her thoughts on giving, inspiration, and the power of human resilience.
